EKRR ANNUAL DINNER 2011
The Annual Dinner for held on 12 November 2011 at a packed Ballarup Hall in East Kilbride with over 240 guests in attendance, with the guest speakers being the fantastic Sandy Strang and the amazing John Gahagan.
This year the Club inducted John "Chunky" Thomson, Bobby Lyle, Willie King and Dougie Somner into the EKRR Hall of Fame, and a special presentation was made to Colin "Smurf" McMurtrie for his outstanding service to the Club.
EKRR RYDER CUP 2011
In the absence of some of the older team, this year's Ryder Cup took on a different look with a stableford competition in the morning and a texas scramble in the afternoon.
The sun shone on the Kingsacre Course near Edinburgh, and a fantastic day was had by all, with the main winners being Marty Lochrin for winning the Stableford(note to Marty: please attend meeting of Handicap Committee before next year), and Del, Mark, Stevie and Cookie for winning the Texas Scramble (am I mistaken or was there a certain Buster Keaton in their team).
Many thanks to Windy Miller for organising the day, all 44 who attended were extremely grateful, although next time make sure taxis are booked for the trip home.

MOSSBLOWN SPEAKERS BRUNCH
Big thanks to Big Stewart and all at Mossblown AFC for showing The Rolly boys great hospitality at their recent speakers Brunch. It was a long day, starting at 10am with a pick up in EK and finished when we got dropped off at 7.30pm. In between . . . we were superbly entertained by John McKelvie, Jim Morrison (the Ayrshire version), and an excellent Sandy Strang, who will be strutting his stuff along with John Geighan at The Rolly Dinner on Saturday 12 November. There was egg on the menu, and nearly egg on the Rolly faces as we overstayed our welcome at Tap of the Brae . . . but whoever decided to open the pub an hour early(11am) because the clocks went forward deserved a medal.

EKRR ANNUAL DINNER 2010
The Annual Dinner for 2010 was held recently in the Ballarup Hall in East Kilbride, and superbly attended by over 220 men.
This year we paid tribute to five EKRR ex players for their sterling contribution over the years and Tony Campbell, Jim Edgar, Derek Little, Stuart McKay and Jim Watson become the first ex players to join our Hall of Fame.
Thanks to all who attended, and special thanks to Joe Camay and Willie Young for keeping everyone entertained.

EKRR RYDER CUP 2010
The "Young Team" won back the EKRR Ryder Cup with some scintilating golf at the West Linton Golf Club near Biggar on a day which the conditions and old age play there part.
Star men for the youngsters (ave age 35) were Big Deek Watson (aka Hightower) who can hit a ball further than some of the Old Boys could walk, and wee Colin McMurtie, who finally got better after playing golf five days a week for the last seven years.
Well done to Windy Millar for his superb organisation of the day and special thanks to him for not wanting to share his joke book.
EKRR Player of The Year 2010
Season 2009/2010 Player of The Year took place on Saturday 22 May in The Village Inn in East Kilbride, and what a great night it turned out to be, in fact it was a Championship winning party.
Thanks to all who attended, to Cliff Smith for entertaining everyone, the staff for all their hand work on the night and the RR Recreational Society for their continued support.

The EKRR Annual Dinner was held recently on 15 November 2008, with ex Grade One Referee John Rowbotham and Scotland's Top After Dinner Speaker John Gahagan speaking at the event, which was superbly MC'd by East Kilbride's own top entertainer Cliff Smith.
It was once again a night to remember and we all look forward to meeting up again on 28 November 2009.
The Annual European Open Golf Championshi[ took place recent in early October 2008 at Vilamoura in Portugal and it was the best tournament so far.
The first round was played over the picturesque Pinhal course and after a great day's play, it was Paul "Windy" Millar who took the honours playing with Colin "The Boss" Thomson.
The second round was played at the Tougher Millennium course and it was a major surprise when "The Boss" turned in a great round of golf to pick up the prize for the day. He sure has come a long way since he was known as CT 147.
A great time was had by all and anyone wishing to know what went on behind the scenes can read the blog on Boys and and Banter.

Friday 8 August seen the Annual Ryder Cup Challenge take place at Thornhill Golf Club near Dumfries and a great day was had by all, and even the weather was good. The Young Team led by Captain Paul "Windy" Millar retained the Trophy by the narrow margin of 10-8, a scoreline which could have been so different if Alex "Not Ringo" Lowe and his playing partner Davie "Ace" Carlin had kept their nerve on the final two holes, but alas it was not to be. So well done to the boys and roll on next year.
Well done to Davie Carlin for his great hole in one at the Par Three first hole and even better that he reminded to bring his wallet to buy everyone who travelled a celebratory pint. Seemingly bringing his wallet is as rare as the hole in one.
